SG Music Library › Guide

Updating

SG Music Library checks for new versions automatically — there's nothing to configure. On startup (if Check for updates on startup is enabled in Preferences, which it is by default), it fetches a small manifest from project-5.com and compares its version against the one you're running. If a newer version is available, you'll see a prompt with the new version number, release notes, and a download link.

This only applies to the Windows build for now — Linux and Android don't yet check automatically, so check the downloads page periodically on those platforms.

Manual updates

You can always check the downloads page yourself:

  • Windows — install the latest .exe over your existing installation at any time; your library database and settings are untouched by reinstalling.
  • Linux (.deb) — install the new .deb the same way as the first time (apt install/dpkg -i); it replaces the previous version in place.
  • Linux (AppImage) — download the new AppImage and use it in place of the old one; nothing to uninstall first.
  • Android — install the new APK over the existing app, same as any Android app update. Your paired devices and settings are untouched.
