Troubleshooting / FAQ
A watched folder isn't picking up new files.
Check whether Scan watched folders on startup or Background rescan is enabled in
Preferences — without either, folders are only scanned once, when first added. Also confirm the
files are in a supported format (.mp3, .flac, .m4a, .wav); anything else is silently
skipped.
Pairing with another device isn't working. Both devices need network connectivity to establish a connection - it now automatically falls back to a relay if a direct peer-to-peer path can't be established (common on strict/symmetric NAT setups, e.g. some mobile and corporate networks), so this should be rare. Double-check the 6-digit code was entered correctly and hasn't expired (codes are valid for only a few minutes), and try again.
The app minimised to the tray when I tried to close it. This is expected default behaviour — closing the window minimises to the system tray rather than quitting. Use Exit from the tray icon's right-click menu, or File → Exit, to fully quit. You can also change the close button's behaviour to "exit" instead, from its menu.
My tags aren't updating after a Bulk Edit. Bulk Edit writes directly to the audio file's tags on disk. If the file is read-only, on a removable drive that's since been disconnected, or open in another program that's locked it, the write can fail silently for that track — check the file's permissions and that it's still accessible.
Android: Play Protect warns about the APK, or blocks installing it. Since SG Music Library isn't distributed through the Play Store, Play Protect may flag it as unrecognized. You can choose Install anyway when prompted; if it's blocked outright, check Settings → Security → Play Protect and temporarily disable scanning for this install.
Something else isn't covered here. Ask on the forum — it's the main support channel for SG Music Library.
